Erchonia Laser Therapy
Advanced Low-Level Laser Technology for Pain Relief and Healing
At The Moshen Center, we use the Erchonia GVL laser, a cutting-edge low-level laser therapy (LLLT) device that harnesses the power of light to promote natural healing at the cellular level. As a global leader in non-invasive medical lasers, Erchonia holds 22 of the 25 FDA clearances given to low-level lasers, representing decades of rigorous clinical research and proven results.
The GVL is the first and only green and violet wavelength laser FDA-cleared for treating chronic neck and shoulder pain. This revolutionary device combines green (520nm) and violet (405nm) light wavelengths to deliver the most effective treatment for increasing range of motion and decreasing pain in a single session.

How Erchonia Laser Therapy Works
Low-level laser therapy works through photobiomodulation, a process where specific wavelengths of visible light stimulate cellular activity and enhance your body's natural healing mechanisms. Unlike high-powered lasers that generate heat, Erchonia's true low-level lasers are completely non-thermal, making them safe, painless, and free from side effects.
When light photons from the laser penetrate your skin, they're absorbed by receptors in your cells' mitochondria (the energy powerhouses of your cells). This absorption triggers a cascade of beneficial reactions:
-
Enhanced ATP Production: Increased cellular energy fuels repair and regeneration
-
Reduced Inflammation: Anti-inflammatory effects decrease swelling and edema
-
Improved Circulation: Enhanced blood flow brings oxygen and nutrients to injured tissues
-
Pain Relief: Multiple mechanisms block pain signals and stimulate natural painkilling chemicals
-
Accelerated Healing: Cellular repair processes are activated and optimized

What Can Laser Therapy Help With?
Erchonia laser therapy is particularly effective for:
-
Musculoskeletal Pain: Chronic and acute pain in muscles, joints, and soft tissues
-
Neck and Shoulder Pain: FDA-cleared specifically for this application

Standalone or Combined Treatment
Erchonia laser therapy can be used as a standalone treatment or combined with acupuncture, herbal medicine, or other therapies for enhanced results. Many patients find that laser therapy and acupuncture work synergistically, each amplifying the benefits of the other.
What to Expect During Your Laser Treatment
Session Length
-
As an add-on to acupuncture or other treatment: 20-30 minutes
-
Standalone session: 30-45 minutes
-
First-time patients (standalone): Up to 1 hour, including comprehensive evaluation
Evaluation Required
A full evaluation is required before beginning laser therapy to ensure the treatment is appropriate for your condition and to develop an effective treatment protocol.
The Experience
Laser therapy is completely painless and non-invasive. You'll remain comfortably clothed while your practitioner positions the cordless, handheld GVL device over your treatment area. The laser is held 4-12 inches from your skin and either held in place or moved gently across the area. Most people feel nothing during treatment, though some report a slight tingling sensation or a sense of deep relaxation. There's no heat, no discomfort, and no downtime. You can return to your normal activities immediately after your session.
Eye Protection
Protective goggles are available for those who request them, though they're not required as the GVL's Class II laser classification means it cannot damage the eyes under normal use conditions.
Results
Many patients notice improvements after just one session. For more significant or lasting change, a series of 3-5 treatments is typically recommended. Your practitioner will develop a customized protocol based on your specific condition and response to treatment.

Safety & Contraindications
Erchonia lasers are true non-thermal devices, meaning they produce no heat and carry no risk of burns or tissue damage. The treatment is extremely safe with no known adverse effects reported in decades of clinical use.
However, there are some conditions where Erchonia does not recommend laser therapy due to a lack of long-term evaluation studies:
Do not use if you:
-
Are pregnant
-
Have a pacemaker
-
Have photosensitive epilepsy
-
Have a known area of cancer
